Genus information

Erythrothrips (Aduncothrips) Ananthakrishnan, 1963: 99. Type species Erythrothrips asiaticus Ramakrishna & Margabandhu, by monotypy.

Desmidothrips Mound, 1977 : 149. Type species Desmidothrips walkerae Mound, by original designation. Synonymised by Li et. al. 2022.

Biology and Distribution

Among seven species in this genus, two recorded from New Zealand and New Caledonia, one (A. asiaticus) just from India, three from China and A. japonicus is recorded from both Japan and China. A. asiaticus was found to be predatory on several different Thripidae but the feeding habits of other Aduncothrips species are not yet clear.
