Malacothrips Hinds, 1902: 200. Type species Malacothrips zonatus Hinds, 1902, by monotypy.

Udeothrips Hood, 1957: 131. Type species Udeothrips vigilatus Hood, 1957, by monotypy. Synonymised by Mound, 1977: 240.

Biology and Distribution

Both old and new world species. Most species bicoloured and living at the base of grasses.
