Astrothrips Karny, 1921: 239, but with no species included. Type species Heliothrips globiceps Karny 1913, by subsequent designation (Moulton, 1932: 484; see Stannard & Mitri, 1962: 190).

Astrothrips (Gamothrips) Priesner, 1965: 214. Type species Astrothrips (Gamothrips) connaticornis Priesner 1965, by monotypy. Synonymy in Mound, 1968: 25.

Sempothrips Bhatti, 1967: 7. Type species Sempothrips asiaticus Bhatti, 1967, by monotypy. Synonymy in Wilson 1975: 43.
